We offer classes and builders assistance in each phase of building an RV. Currently, we offer the following classes:
Fundamentals of Building --
Learn the basic skills of building a metal airplane in a day. In this class, you will learn how to drill, dimple, countersink and prepare parts for assembly. Learn to rivet…using different tools and techniques. Discover how to effectively organize your workspace, and keep records that will meet FAA requirements.
Determine how to select the best tools, and decode the strange world of aircraft hardware. In order to accommodate each participant, enrollment will be limited. This allows us to keep the instructor/student ratio at approximately 6:1.
All tools are provided. Classes include beverage service and boxed lunch and will usually be scheduled (see Class Schedules) on Saturday's, from 8:00 am-5:00 pm.
Prerequisite(s): None
Fee: $150 per person.
QuickStart Empennage --
This class is an extensive five-day course devoted to building up your kit. Attending this class will result in a complete, ready-to-fly RV tail section. (Exceptions are for RV-10 builders. In this case, we will help you complete a majority of the project in the course and then provide you with the skills and confidence to finish the tail section on your own.)
We provide all necessary tools and workspace, and provide personal assistance from 8 am to 5 pm. Bring a new tail kit for the RV of your choice and leave with a safe well-built tail kit. You will gain the skills and knowledge to go on and finish your plane with confidence. The instructor to student ratio is 2:1 so enrollment is limited.
You may bring someone to assist you at no extra charge… it’s a great way to get your spouse, child, or friend involved in your project!
Prerequisite(s): Fundamentals of Building
Fee: $1500 (RV-7, RV-8, RV-9) 5 day class
Fee: $2000 (RV-10) 8 day class
Empennage kit pickup and preparation fee: $325
Fiberglass from Start to Finish --
Yes, a RV is a metal airplane, although surprisingly there is a great deal of fiberglass in the plane as well. This two-day course will give you a thorough grounding in the materials and techniques you'll need to finish your canopy, cowling, wheel fairings and intersection fairings. During this class, and will learn how to prepare you fiberglass parts for final painting. You will leave with the skills to finish fiberglass parts with confidence. Classes are held from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm and lunch is provided.
